Oh, Mr Porter - Will Hay, 1937

The title is a bit misleading as Mr Porter is the character name and he's the station master.

The story is about a bumbling railwayman, "promoted" out of the way to Northern Ireland to a place called Buggleskelly on the Irish border.

There he tries to promote the rundown station with excursions and by stopping "the express". This attracts the local gun runners (allegiance not stated) to take one of the excursion trains along a disused line to the South.

Mr Porter and the equally incompetent station staff, take the station loco "Gladstone" (K&ESR Northiam with the rear cab cut off and an enlarged chimney) to recover the train and take the villains, on a high speed run, to the authorities at the main station.

I even have a recording of the original whistle sounds... not bad for an almost unique locomotive.
